Il s'agit d'un burlesque américain, probablement un court métrage de 1917 (date de la pellicule Kodak), avec l'intrigue suivante : "Deux vagabonds s'associent pour toucher une récompense. L'un devra se présenter comme déserteur dans un camp militaire et l'autre organisera son évasion. Mais, à l'intérieur du camp, le premier vagabond multiplie les gaffes : en creusant un trou, il enterre deux soldats en faction ; en préparant un gâteau, il ajoute de la poudre à canon, etc... Il manquera ainsi de peu d'être fusillé." Il manque le début et la fin du film.

This film is an American comic film, probably a short film from 1917 (date of the Kodak film), with the following plot: "Two vagrant partner up to get a prize. One will introduce himself as a deserter from a military camp, and the other will organize his escape. However, inside the camp, the first vagrant makes multiple blunders: when digging a hole, he buries two soldiers standing guard; while making a cake, he adds gunpowder, etc. He hardly misses getting shot."    This film, which is kept at the Archives françaises du film (AFF), does not have its any opening or closing scenes .

A l'image, les inscriptions sur les bouteilles sont indéchiffrables et ne donnent donc aucune indication quant à la nationalité du film.
Le titre est forgé à partir des informations collectées sur les intertitres français.
Il existe un film, Patouillard vétérinaire (Roméo Bosetti, 1911), mais aucun des protagonistes présents sur ce fragment ne correspond à ce personnage.

There is a series of numbers on the sleeve: 1119 5, which does not correspond to the usual dating notation of film manufacturers.
On the image, the bottle inscriptions are indecipherable and therefore do not give any indication as to the nationality of the film.
The title was created from information gathered from the French insert titles.
There is a film called Patouillard vétérinaire (Roméo Bosetti, 1911), but none of the protagonists in this fragment correspond to this character.

On reconnaît, dans le personnage avec la chemise et le pantalon à carreaux, l'acteur Al St John dont la filmographie contient plus de 300 titres.
Le personnage féminin est peut-être interprété par Josephine Stevens.
Cette copie incomplète de 62 m comporte, pour l'essentiel, une séquence de bagarre dans une taverne.
Il a été déposé sous le titre La Bataille à Chicago.

The character wearing a button-down shirt and plaid pants is recognizable as the actor Al St. John, who appeared in more than 300 films.
The female character may be played by Josephine Stevens.

La datation pellicule révèle un tirage de la copie en 1923, avec approximation d'usage.
La partie du film en notre possession se termine par la capture du bandit,  le début du film est manquant dans nos collections.
